Sandro Brina
Italy
Began his remarkable work in 1971 ringing waders and is currently probably one of the ringers in Europe and the world who has ringed the most birds (more than 150,000). He established the OasiCostiera ornithological station on the Adriatic coast of Italy in 2004, and since then it has operated continuously, now serving as a benchmark for bird ringing during migration and international projects such as Piccole Isole.
Ana Catalina Pinzón
Colombia
Biologist with an MSc in Environmental Management and Auditing. Ornithologist and bird ringer on three continents. Director of the Chocó Bird Observatory in Colombia and coordinator of the Bird Observatory Network research group. Her research focuses on parasitology, bird health, and their relationship with the ecosystem. She is a permanent instructor at the Birding Congress of Europe.
Guillem Chacon
Catalonia
He has spent decades ringing birds in the tropics of three continents. Although he coordinates his own ringing stations (in Manu NP in Peru and the Senegal Delta), Guillem Chacon dedicates himself to helping ornithologists—from resource-poor countries—create their own ornithological stations, equipping them to be autonomous and operational with national teams. He has carried out this work in 15 countries, where he lives, and is intimately familiar with the precarious conditions, needs, and processes involved.
